hey.
Im running windows xp home atm. Im thinking of creating a partition on my hd purely for the os. Will this make a difference to the performance of my pc?

its still the same hard drive . . .

what i'm doing on my soon-to-be computer is getting a western digital raptor and putting OS and games on that so they load faster

its a 10000 rpm hd that runs on sata

I think there are other factors to consider other than the specs of the hard drive; having a seperate partition for temporary files (internet cache, downloads) can reduce fragmentation on the partition used for programs, which would affect speed, although I don't know to what extent.
