You must be referring to virtual memory.

VRAM is the memory on a video card.

this happens on my PC aswell
I have no Idea why, but even though you have more than the requried RAM to run these proggy's, it still insists on using paging file and only part of the physical RAM

what are the settings in X-teq to change RAM priority?

page file is dependent on free harddrive space were O/S is installed, not Physical RAM itself. have you stuffed your Boot drive?
