Default P4 hyper threading off/on GAMING

sup guys i was wondering about this when your playing high demand resource games like farCry or UT04 will your games perform better and get more FPS with HT on or off??? you would think they would run better with hyper threading on but i looked at some test and they show different. anyways thx guyz
p.s. how does HT work??

I would think they would run better with it OFF because hyper-threading itself slows down the computer when doing single processes but makes it faster when doing multiple processes.

But if your encoding a DVD while playing farcry then hyperthreading ON would probably yeild better results.

I have no idea how it works aside from it creates a mirror of itself(the processor) and pretends that there are two so it can more efficiently process multiple "threads"

But i don't think either way is going to make much difference maybe a 2-3fps in a high end game

and maybe 10 in something like quake3

I have heard of this too lately, but also haven't heard how much it could possibly gain you
