Over-volted RAM Will Damage Core i7 CPUs?

CustomPC says they have confirmation from ASUS that Intel is warning against running your DIMM voltage higher than 1.65v on Core i7 boards. While this isnt a big deal for most people, it could limit the type of memory you run and adversely impact overclockers that push their DIMM voltage to the limits when overclocking.

Asus PR rep, Iain Bristow, confirmed to Custom PC that the sticker had been placed on the motherboard after Intels recommendation, saying it is recommended that you should not use voltage higher than 1.65V. However, he added that if an end user does decide to use memory with a higher voltage, they should be aware of the risks, so it looks as though Asus wont be restricting the DIMM voltage in the motherboards BIOS.
