Default Opteron or Xeon!

I have 2 GB DDR333 Reg. that I will use for this system which was pulled out from a different system. That is why I'm going Opteron or Xeon instead of mainstream for my SQL/Oracle/Linux server.

My question is what should I use, an Opteron or Xeon?

My other question is are there any PCIe boards for the Opteron?
