One monitor...two computers

So let me get this right... if i get one of the above switches, i can then have one mouse and one key board connected to one monitor..and then the switch would allow two systems....my laptop and desktop to use one screen.

is that right?

So a few questions then:

I take it both can be on at the same time?
Is the switching done in a matter of seconds?
Are KVM a good make for these such things?

Final question:

In the UK wheres the best online place to ge them??

Yeah kvm switches rule. I have 8 computers set up to one right now. They can all be up and running and switching is fast. kvm is the type of switch many companies make them. I am using a belkin omni view right now. As to where to get one in the UK I am at a loss.

The switch is immediate. It is designed to be able to cycle through machines at a quick keystroke. I swithc mine by pressing Scroll lock, scroll lock, 1 or 2.
