AF doesn't use as much resources as AA. You can turn AF up without sacrificing too much FPS, especially on newer cards (GeForce2 won't cut it for AA or AF), and yes, you can notice AF. Without AF, you have to be allot closer to an object for it to be rendered clearly. AA, on the other hand, takes a massive chunk out of your FPS. I don't use it unless it just looks like crap without it, especially with the problems this X800 gives me.
