Default Old CD-Rom drives

Can a problem occur if you put a CD-R or CD-RW in an older CD-ROM drive or cd player, maybe that has to do with formatting or something?

shouldnt, you just wont be able to write to it, just read from it. cd-r will usually work on all drives, but a cd-rw might not work in some audio players, or really old cd drives
