CPU- AMD Athlon 64 3200+ S939 Winchester...$190
Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939..$115
RAM-Kingston 1GB (2x512 MB) DDR PC3200...$85

Grand Total...$415

That would be a very nice setup and would run anything very nicely. I realize that zipzoomfly doesn't ship to the UK, but I would try to search for those parts in a store that does.

If you read above you will see that i DID mention RAM. Anyways, here it is again

RAM:

DDR SD RAM
Size: 1024mb
Channels: Duel
Frequency: 166.4mhz (PC2700)
Manufacturer: SpecTek

What happens if my RAM is 'too slow' ?

Also, as a temporary measure i know someone whom i can buy a AMD XP 3200 CPU from at a cheap price (temporary until i have my full amount of $$££ to spend)

What sort of performance boost would be seen when upgrading from a AMD XP 2800? I don't need it to be an amazing increase but would it be noticeable? (in gaming, 3d moddelling)
