OEM- Original Equipment Manufacturer

an OEM part is a replacement part made by the manufacturer, isn't retail just the price for an item?

OEM equipment is equipment offered with no frills. They are meant for manufacturers and system builders to install in systems that they are making. For example, an OEM hard drive might come without hard disk rails, cables, documentation or the disk with the transalation software. Whereas a retail drive would have all of the above.

I bought OEM Win XP Full Install Versions for 100 bucks US Instead of 200 Bucks US From A Retailer. No Box Or Paperwork Just a CD But I saved a 100 Bucks!!!:D

I think certain things are good OEM, like when you aren't worried about extra support and the "frills" that come with it, but on most parts, particularly expensive parts, you'd be better off getting retail.
