Oddly fast transfers

Today I was transferring stuff between two separate dries in W7, and the transfers seem impossible fast; i.e. a 700MB ISO moving in under a couple of seconds. Just wondering what might be causing it.

It wouldn't be out of the question if they are both sata drives. Moving data from Sata to Sata drive can be very fast.

They are indeed, I just hadn't seen them go so fast previously.

It might be something that Vista or XP didn't take advantage of maybe? Not really sure, but Sata drives advertise a speed of 3.5gb/s so if it's anything close to that 700mb would be a piece of cake.

I agree with you, that is too fast. 300MB/s is the maximum speed on the SATA interface, the disks themselves don't come close to saturating that.
