OCZ PSU Recall

We have an interesting post in the PSU section of the HardForum.

Thank you for shopping with ZipZoomFly! We regret to inform you that the manufacturer, OCZ, has decided to recall the following product(s) which you may have ordered:

10008587, OCZ OCZ800EXS 800W SLI/CrossFire Active Power Supply Retail

10008588, OCZ OCZ1000EXS 1000W SLI/CrossFire Active Power Supply Retail

For a replacement for a non-defective model of the power supply you ordered, or additional details on the recall, please contact OCZ at 1-408-733-8400.

We contacted OCZ after Nick Van Eyck suffered his second EliteXstream 1000w PSU failure and made us aware of it. We have not gotten any official word back from OCZ at this time. Likely due to Cebit being held this week in Germany. More when we get something official from OCZ.

NO OCZ Recall

Yesterday we noted that Zip Zoom Fly had informed customers that some of the OCZ power supplies it sells had been recalled. Alex Mei with OCZ got in touch with [H] this morning from Cebit and informed us that there was no recall but rather confusion.

I just talked to Ryan Edwards and confirmed there is no recall for any PSU's. There is a standard EOL on the EliteXStream because we are introducing some new products that are more efficient (Z-Series). I think there has been some confusion on the ZZF side or it could have come from our sales side, we have a new rep on the account, and EOL may have been confused with "recall."

So there is no recall, we are replacing the EXS line with the more efficient Z-Line which we are debuting here at Cebit.

EOL = End Of Life.
