Are we connecting up IDE hard drives here???
If that is the case, NO. You need to get an IDE Controller Card, or a motherboard with PATA/RAID Controller on it.
BTW, the IDE Controller Card and PATA/RAID Controller work best on hard drive. I have had issues with various optical drives.
