I bought a new hard drive for my computer, currently I have two hard drives which share the same ribbon cable, but I am trying to add a third. I have a dvd burner, and a cd rom but only two ribbon connections. So I unplugged my cd-rom to replace it with a hard drive. After mounting the hard drive in the case and attaching the ribbon connection to it, my computer will still not reconize my hard drive

Which should be the master the hard drive of the dvd burner?

I have fooled around with the master and slave settings and nothing seems to be working.

I tried setting the hard drive as the slave and removing the pin from the back of the hard drive. When I turned the computer on I got this message...

try removing your Primary Slave HD, and replace it with the new dive... just to see if the new dive works. if it does, try putting it on the Secondary Master postition and see if that makes any diff.

if not, u may wont to check your bourdes manufacturer's website, perhaps theres a weired setup guidline u need to follow.
