no output

finally got my new comp to turn on but now i don't get any output. the fan on the cpu and on the 9800 pro 128 both turn on. i don't hear any beeps that i've read about in other threads. mobo is an asus a7v8x-x. i swapped out the 9800 with a friend's 9700 and it still didn't work. any ideas?

There are so many reasons that governs the booting of a compuer. Major are memory, Display card, in case you have on board try with some AGP card if slot is available. Try swaping power supply.
