Default No NV48 from nVIDIA

Nvidia decided to cancel its NV48 project, and it seems likely that these cards will not appear at all. Originally expected in Q1 2005, the cards have been dropped after Nvidia realised that it was a waste of time to push a 20 to 30 MHz faster card. ATI however will release updates of its R420 core that are only a tad bit faster, and would be a complete waste of money if you already have an R420.

i agree with Nvidia`s logic . Thats probably my #1 reason why i didnt purchase the x800xt . Nvidia introduced a new chip all together . If they could do a serious increase in performance like 100-200MHz or more then it would be worth while . Of course that means more $ for the product .The 20-30 increase would probably just make people mad hehe , especially sense there high end cards arent cheap.
