no hdd

earlier i started reinstalling xp but it said there was no hd detected when i put the cd in. the hd lights working and the hd is listed in the bios. anybody have any ideas?

What kind of harddrive, is it SATA?

See the PRESS F6 TO INSTALL SATA OR SCSI DRIVERS when you are installing windows XP?

You need a floppy with the drivers...

nothing ever happened when i hit f6

Did you ever have a driver disk?
Do you have a keyboard that disables the F-X keys?

Took me a while to figure out why a PC wouldnt go into BIOS, PC locked the F keys until you pressed the f-lock button.

the f keys arent locked. anybody know f the wd raptor came with a disk for the drivers? i dont remember if mine did

Could be a motherboard floppy disk for the SATA host as well

Nothing will happen, immediately, jus be sure and push it, then after it finishes loading all the stuff, it will search for the drivers. The floppy would have come wiht your motherboard not the drive. If you dont have that, go to the manufacturers website and you should beable to find the drivers there that you can mount onto a floppy.
