most(if not all) nForce4 chip mobo's include 4 SATA II ports(which are also backwards compatible with SATA 150) as well as 4 pure SATA 150 ports. so 8 ports total; half sata II, half sata.
which board you looking at? I have a msn k8n neo4 and that has 4 sataII ports controlled by the nforce4 and 4 sata150 ports controlled by a silicon image controller.
