Default new vid card

my dad was looking into a new vid card and i need some help. what is the best vid card out there between 200 and 300 dollars. thanks for any future help. and no aiw or any of that, just a pure gaming card

yeah that's what i was thinking to...i said that card right away. just wanted to get some more imput. thanks for the post. what i think i'll do is write down alot of cards from tom's and look at benchmarks then search to see which is the best for the price range. lots of work but i can still do it...i'm still open to oppinions.

well if u gogin 200-300 get a 9800XT or try to see if u can even get a 6800 or a x800

I have the 9800pro and it does great in my system.

i get around 20100 for my bench in 3dmark01

and over 6000 in 03

the pro is pretty good. its 256-bit, 8 piplelines, and no lag on doom 3. lol
