ive never heard of anyone ever building their own laptop...i believe its nearly impossible to do.

jnev_89: thanks for the coupon links and the recommendation. I priced out an Inspiron 9300 with a very nice coupon. This the final specs:

Pentium M 750
17" display
6800 go 256 MB
80 GB 5400 HD
CD Burner/DVD Drive
WLan and bluetooth
256MB RAM - To be upgraded to 1 GB, bought seperately.

for 1,166 plus tax.

Factor in another $150 or so for the memory, and it comes to about the same price, maybe a little more. I'm going to order it as soon as I look at the Pentium M 750 benchmarks. Thanks man.
