Default new intel chips, Mobile vs M processor vs centrino

Am I wrong or what do I have wrong?

Isn't this chip much faster (better?)
Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 532 supporting HT

than this one?
Intel® Pentium® M processor 765

I would rather have an AMD chip, but don't find many laptops with AMD chips.

if you want AMD that bad then look for it... however onto your question... the pentium M is architecturally much more advanced than the p4 in question, it has larger caches and better branch address code and many other cpu optimizations, it also has 3rd generation speedstep technology allowing much better battery life and performance on demand than that p4(however without hyperthreading)... the M is between a p3 and p4 technically, however it has been shown to outperform athlon XP's at same clock frequency(rare for an intel)... so yes and no to your question, the pentium 4 technically can win in some areas, but will lose in most(thats my opinion)... so if you are using the laptop on the go alot away from outlet power go with the M if not go for the pentium 4.

The World is my trashcan and i intend to fill it...
