i am based in bellevue in washington and was thinking of

Harddrives Northwest...any ideas how good they are?

thanks

wow, that sucks. i apologize for saying that.

get a P4 2.4 or higher, you won't be dissapointed.

512 memory at least for modest systems

no cd burner or dvd-rom?

no AGP slot?

that PSU is kinda weak too

is 40 gigs enough for your harddrive, i had 40 once, then i went up to 80, and that wasn't enough, now i ended up with a 250, but that's just me, i use my comp to it's full potential.

western digital for harddrive at least 80 gig
intel P4 proc 2.4 ghz or higher
name brand memory, 512 stick
antec PSU, at least 300 watt
maybe a cd burner, plextor or lite on brands are good (burners are a dime a dozen for a speedy one)
find a mobo with an AGP 8x slot, if not a PCI-ex slot, it's a must have if you want to ever get a video card.

this is what i would reccomend for a low end pc.

what exactly is a modest budget and what do you plan to use the comp for? like websurfing, music, games, word doc apps, downloading, etc...

ok

i have an 80 gig western digital..
my comp old one..has the ram
ok..i need it for intensive graphics
i have a radeon video card
most of the stuff i have..except the mobo which is fast and the processor...so i guess i need those two...

whats an AGP slot anyways???

i like ASUS brand mobos, but they have crappy tech support. I'm sure Nubius will read this and tell you a good brand mobo that'll work with a P4 2.4ghz proc.

agp= advanced graphics port ??? i think....

it's used for video card, it's what newer but not newest pc's use to connect the video card to the mobo, it's the slot the video card slides into. the newest of the new pc's use PCI-ex 16x (not to be confused with regular PCI).

AGP = Accelerated Graphics Port
AGP has speeds of 8x compared to the 4x of pci slots.
Do not get a celeron, they plain suck. lol I would say get a p4. 2.4 at least
You can get 512 value ram that isnt to expensive.
The mobo, ASUS tech, and abit make very good mobos.
