Im looking to get a new computer that is under $1400. I was wondering if people would give me ideas for a good build. Just post a complete computer or just some ideas.

Please do NOT cross post your messages to other forums.==MicroBell

go for AMD 64 cpu's, (not the FX) and the x800 or the 6800 family cards if you have enough, 250GB HD, fast CD-ROM, crt monitor, good sound card etc. not sure how much that totals...just to give you an idea

that comes to like around $1455.

This is one kick ass system.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the 6800 Ultra needs a power supply of at least 480 watts. By the way, SNiPeRViRuS, did you decide on your system?

Definitely so. 350 watts is nowhere enough for that build.

get the 3500 939 socket. dual chanel ram. also you don't need a sound card YET. i say use the onboard sound untill you have enough for a good one. see if you can borow your friends xp pro or home or whatever so you don't blow money on that. you don't need a burner unless you really want one. i say get a cd 52x read dvd 16x read and most all cd rom's come with a burner already. i sugest the msi active panel, it's perfect for the price. don't wimp out one the vid card. i say go with an ati x800pro or some thing. you can get it now becasue you scratched the money from that other stuff. i'm geting the super lanboy case from antec with a tru blue 480 watt psu wich i recomend. the case is really up to you and what you want in it and what your taste in what you want it to look like.

damn that was long, hope that helped. oh shit, i forgot about ram, ummmm get corsair xms series low latency 512mb ddr. if you can get a gig. also i say get the asus board if you don't play on ocing, if you do get the abit. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1 as for hdd, i say for hdd depending on what you are going to do you pick the gigs. if you have the dough get a raptor, if you get two hdd's you can work them in raid.

u should also get a socket 939 for the Athlon 64 instead of the 754.

Western digital and Segate are better brands then Maxtor.
