So finally got my 650i (p5n-e sli) running in my old system. Did a windows repair, all went well. Put the 650i drivers, nd chipset stuff.
However, theres 2 unknowns oin the pcibus, that can't be found.

Details show boith are ACPI stuff, but can't find the drivers to make it work.
d/l'd newest nvidas, old ASUS stuff and nope.

Anyone got hints how to figure what they are?

Something like Belarc Advisor or Everest should tell you.

You may be using a copy of XP that was tailored for a laptop. The unknown devices could be part of the battery monitoring circuitry in laptops which of course doesn't exist in desktops.

Hmm, everst..... will try.....

No, to lappy xp, its running on a desktop just fine... it's An OEM original disk.

That's what I'm talking about. That OEM CD may have been custom made for laptops. What logo(if any) shows up in System in the control panel?

The unknown devices are most likely for the battery level and the other for AC power detection.

Save this to Device1.reg and import this into the registry. Then reboot. If I'm right one of the unknown devices will be gone.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\ACPI\ACPI0003]

No, you miss understood. Its an OEM XP disk right from MS, not a OEM Company disk..

It must a system builders disc then. Try the registry patch anyway. If it doesn't get rid of one of the unknown devices then delete the entry from the registry. If it does work I'll post the other patch.
