Is it possible to network my computer and my laptop using their modems? And if so how do I go about it?

Use Carrier Pidgeons. Read the RFC for pidgeon packet protocols.

Ok.. sorry. You should be able to use a null modem cable to connect the computers together...not necessarily using the modems, but where they plug into. I don't know much able cables, but since it sounds like you don't have network jack/card on your laptop, or a nick in the computer--the only way is through the serial port... Can anyone else elaborate/correct?

The only way to network them with the actual modems is if you have two phone lines.. Then you can set up a dial-up server on one comp and dial into it with the other. This will allow you to use regular networking protocols for file transfers (albeit slow) or games or whatever.

Chalk's suggestion of a null modem cable would be a much better solution, as it's much faster and doesn't require phone lines. You can pick up a null modem cable at any computer store for probably less than $10.
