My girl friend recently purchased a 32" Panasoinc TC-L32X1 and she bought a acer aspire x3200 and wanted to hook the desktop up to the tv. So first I bought a vga cable and all was well, except for no sound, so I went and bought a HDMI cable plugged it into the desktop and the other end to the tv. I get picture but I never get sound from the monitor :*( Anyone have any suggestions Im started to get :very_angry:

check your playback device in sound properties and see if there is a hdmi output that can be set as default. If not you can run a minijack from the sound card to a minijack or rca inputs on the tv depending upon the input needed in combo with the vga cable. Usually on the back they will have a sound input that works in conjunction with your vga cable.

Only some video/sound cards will have HDMI ( sound out) - with most of them you have to run separate sound cables . So, +1 with what Hefemeister said above.
