I am about to built a NEW pc system from scratch, I have searched and researched about the computer that I am about to built. I will be mostly using applications like 3dsmax, priemere, encore and some other video applications, but at the same time i will be playing games on it like Battle for Middle Earth, Doom 3, FarCry. I am looking for a video card that could handle both ends. All I know is that it must be PCI Express and be HDTV. I am aslo builting this so it would last for about 3 years if possible. So I need back to make sure this system would work for me.

A is a card for autocad and stuff. B is an attempt at a good gaming card.

Also, for gaming, why are you getting Intel. AMD is better for gaming.
If you want a much better AMD system

-AMD FX-55
-DFI Lanparty UT-4 SLI (something like that name)
-Some BH-5 or samsung TCCD's (more forum members will give you recomendations)
-SLI'ED 6800 Ultra's

But he also said he was going to mostly use video-editing applications, in which go with Intel. Just depends on if better application performance is wanted or better gaming performance is wanted.

and considering he's only getting a 3.2 ghz non-64 bit intel I doubt he has the budget for an fx-55 lol

And if he's going to upgrade in three years anyway, there's little use to get a better processor.

Useless.

One 6800 is enough. SLI's are expensive and not really worth it. A single 6800 Ultra will play all of the current games really freakin' good.

For the motherboard, I would personally go with DFI or Gigabyte nforce4.

2 6800's isnt useless, it's just overkill. He's the one who wants to buy an 800$ MSRP ATI Card
