I have the GIGABYTE GA-K8NS Ultra-939 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail, and it works great. It has 1000MHz Hypertransport as compared to 800MHz for yours. This wouldnt make too much of a difference, though, especially with a 3000+. I recommend getting the motherboard you chose (or the one I have) just because I have had great success using it.

For the case, get the $56 one. For $1 more dollar you can get a 420W PSU. For this system, you definitely dont need a 520W PSU. Also, be warned that someone is gonna come along and say the PSU that comes with the case is crap, etc. Because it is about 100W more than what you system actually needs, a generic PSU will be just fine.

Because the pqi is such a low price, I would get it. It will overclock much better than the valueram, in case you ever feel the urge to OC.

Just to make things clear, Expensive-fancy RAM does not perform any better than ValueRAM, unless you overclock!!!

People say its not about wattages, its that they make the psu is crap, and thats not it i have a cdrom cdrw dvd flopy disk 2hdd and a lot more power thats just the list that im going to buy cause i alreayd hae my drives and hdds. almost every fourm on a new computer will say get a better psu im actually looking at this psu cause its 10 dollars cheaper and i lose 20 watts WOW 20 WATTS WAT AM I GOING TO DO

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817148005

and i will be OCing this machien so just to keep that in mind

so you think the 3000+ is an ok processor

i was looking at the 3200+ newcastle 2.0 vs the 3000+ vence 1.8 and everyone said to go with the vence

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103486
vs
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103537

and so the mobo
wats the difference between nforce3 250Gb and nforece3 ultra.

well
ill probably go with the mobo that you have cause it has 1000mhz FSB and my processor has 1000mhz FSB too so i know it doesnt make a big difference i mean 30 dollars more do i really need it.

Another option for the PSU.

Also, Maybe I"m a little biased here since I saw this mobo take a 1.8 venice up to 2.6 at xbitlabs, but this is a good choice. Nothing wrong with your choice though.

Nforce3 250GB is USUALLY 754. Ultra is 939. But, I think Gigabye did something and made it 939.

If you are going to be OCing with the Gigabyte, you wont be able to get any crazy overclocks. It does handle small to moderate overclocks just fine, but not as good as the DFI Lanparty series. But if you are looking to overclock by a little, then the Gigabyte will be fine.

Also, make sure to get RAM that uses Samsung TCCD chips. TCCDs overclock nicely without having to dump a lot of extra voltage into them, making the Gigabyte board ok. If you get some other kind of RAM that has something like BH-5s for ICs, then you might run into trouble, due to the Gigabyte not being able to supply that much extra voltage to the RAM.

For a list of what RAM has TCCDs, go here.

Definitely get the Venice-cored CPU. It runs cooler than the Newcastle, plus it has better overclocking abilities (not just because of the low temperature, either). Not to mention the Newcastle can only be found on skt 754 anyways...
