My monitor goes off

Problem:
My monitor goes off when I switch on the computer. This is at the login screen. I have Windows Vista.
I have to keep pressing the on/off switch on the monitor but everything works ok.
Lately, I installed a Chinese program.
I also pressed a sleep key accidentally.

What is happening please?

Chinese program? Your monitor is probably going bad. test your computer using another monitor.

The program was Open Office, a chinese language pack actually it was a download. I will try a different monitor but that will take a while.

Does the monitor power off, Or does it stay on and just go black?

Is the power cable secure in the back? I had a monitor that the cable would shake lose all the time.

Do you have drivers installed for your monitor? I had a monitor that came with drivers for a special feature and it just caused it to do random stuff, such as turn off randomly.
