i was going to say the exact same thing as D4RK GR4YL3N.

stangeroo look at your floppy drive. if you see a floppy in it than take it out and start the computer up.

ok, I couldnt find a dixk so I opened the case. The IDE looks fine, but I found this coming from the HD, then it goes to the floppy drive. Should it be pluged it to anything or is it just being used as a connector

That is a power connector from the power supply. If there is already one plugged into the hard drive and the floppy then it is most likely an extra one. Most power supplys come with four of those but if you only have a hard drive and two optical drives then you will have an extra.

i think ur problem may because of ur ide cable or the power cable or it may because of the jumper which is present behind the hard disk keep the jumper in primary that may be the first pin from left or right .May be ur motherboard bios may be old try to update it by going to ur vendor's site.
