Multi View (2 monitors) ???? how

Hello,

i already posted this some where else but was told ill have a better chance in this section.

im thinking of buying a second monitor but i dont exactly know how multi-view (dual monitors) works.

could some 1 please tell me a few ins and outs and some of the plus sides and some of the down sides if there is any.?

all i thought to know was, if i had 2 monitors eg. i could be working on Photoshop on one screen and msn conversations on the other. ?

i dont know anything so please help.
