MP3s lag on a 1.8G!

Hello,

I built this computer about a year ago. It is a 1.8G with 256MB RAM. For some reason when I download music and play MP3s the mp3s skip and lag. How could a computer of this speed be so laggy with mp3s? Other than that its a pretty fast computer.

Could it be heat? The case temp is about 83.5F.

Any suggestions?

well if you're trying to do a lot at once with only 256mb RAM that could be a reason

Yeah, 256mb RAM is a pretty small amount. I suggest another 256mb stick. Also, what kind of RAM are you using>? PC2700?

Do you have a Celeron processor? If so, that could be part of it. I know we sell Celeron's where I work, and they are crap. They can't even play the $10 value games without lagging.

i doubt thats the problem, i played mp3's fine on a 550 mhz computer with 128mb of ram
