Hey i got an mp3 player for x-mas and some songs are really staticky and stuff and the songs i get off disks that i own i have to convert to mp3 and i used audio mp3 converter and i put the converted mp3 files into the mp3 player and listned to them and it was very slllooowww and peices of the song were missing. So i decided to download them and i guess it has to do with the quality of the songs... is that the bittrate? and is it higher or lower the better the song?

the higher the bitrate, the better quality MP3. mine are usually ripped at 190 something or over 200.

is 128 good? seems the majority of the songs u download are.

128 should be okay for an MP3 player, mine plays all my MP3 files fine, even the slower ones.

I found that I like the MP3s on my PC encoded at about 256 and I just crank the bass up on my amp. Still not as good as a vinal record or a cd but its not bad.

The biggest different I found in quality of music from my MP3 player was when i swtiched to some Bang and Olufson ear pieces. They manage to replace alot of the bass that was lost in the encoding process.
