Monitor turns off after boot up.

Hello,

I currently downloaded the newest nvidia drivers for my video card. After i rebooted after installing the driver my computer boots up then the monitor shuts down immediatly before the login screen for XP.

So now im stuck... im on a older computer trying to look for solutions on the other one.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

hhmm. Is it your video card thats failing i wonder or your monitor? When you say your monitor "shuts off" does it go into standby, does it turn off, or does it just go black.

Try booting up in safe mode. If it works you can isolate the problem as your video drivers. To get into safe mode, start pressing the F8 key after POST and the windows advanced menu should pop-up. If you start pressing it too soon a "keyboard error" will pop-up and youll have to reset and try again.

ahh yes, thank you.

I had to take about an hour break away from the computer just to think what i could do and i did think about the safe mode thing so i did it. Now i got my computer working back to normal.
