My laptop has an hdmi port and my monitor has a vgi port. The both have female ports so I assume I need a hdmi (m) to vgi (m) adapter so i can view my laptop on another, larger monitor. Is that true?

Also, My desktop has an onboard hdmi port as does my tv. Can I use a hmdi on both ports and connect to desktop monitor and my tv or will I need to use a seperate video card on my desktop and use the ports on that to connect to my pc so I can view it on my tv as well?

Plz let me know.

thx

Hi Chara,

You just need a HDMI to VGA adapter to use your monitor ( this will connect the VGA cable Male side into the adapter which has a female port, then the other side is HDMI so just plugs into your laptop) .

You can buy one here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Patuoxun-Ad...468&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+cable+adaptor

If your TV has HDMI, you should just be able to plug in the HDMI in both your laptop and TV and it will work (might need to change source)
