Monitor Problem

Any help appreciated.

Bought a new computer to use with existing 17" Packard Bell monitor. When I set it up, for some reason the monitor only displays in the middle portion of the screen, i get a thick black border on either side.

The compuyer displays perfectly on another monitor, so is my monitor now faulty?

did you hook-up this monitore to another computer?

hook it up and see whether it gives problem.

try adjusting the side to side settings manually on the monitor itself.

tried adjusting all settings on the monitor itself. no better. think it's possibly faulty, something to do with the cable?

unfortunately its a hardwired cable, so can't replace it?

try changing the monitor frequency to a lower setting in(advanced display settings) and also try using a different resolution.. then adjust the position and shape. c if that helps.
