Default Monitor pin missing

A pin on my monitor cable recently fell out. When I turn on my computer the light turns green but the screen is black. When i unplug the cable the regular blue box comes up saying to check video connection. Is the monitor trash or is there anyway to fix it? The pin that fell out is on the top row, second one in from the left.

Any local electrician or PC repair shop should be able to replace the plug at a nominal fee.

But is it possible to fix it myself. Can I take apart the crt and replace the cable or is it too difficult?

You need to replace the plug or cable or whatever is broken, it shouldn't be too hard.

DO NOT EVER TAKE APART A CRT ON YOUR OWN!

Sorry for the all caps but CRT's even when unplugged still have a huge, I mean huge amount of electricity stored that could very well kill you if discharged.

Take it to a professional.

Just leave it for a couple of days first. If you get a shock it's all part of the fun.

But really if you're not confident then taking it to a pro would be a better idea.

Well I really good with computers... I'm going to college to be a Network Security Specialist and I'm currently studing for A+ certification. I feel pretty confident on doing it myself. Also I work at evil store... I mean CompUSA, I'm gonna ask one of the techs if they can help me out.

You wanna specialise in network security? That's definitely the way to go! Good choice.

Your copying me :-p Anyways i dont think you can replace the cable unless you take one out of another CRT and solder it onto the current one..

You would have to leave it longer than a couple of day's,A monitor can hold it's charge for a very long time
