There are no problems but whenever I turn on my 20" CRT which is right next to the 17" CRT, the 17 flickers or the picture distorts a tiny bit for a second. Is this something to worry about? because I turn the 20" on and off often.

its cuz the magnatical field .. my screen once got ****e d up cuz i puted a big speakers next to it !
so .. i think yes .. u should watch out ..

It is probably because the 20" degausses automatically when you turn it on. Many CRT's do that. Unless the 17" keeps flickering, there's not much to worry about; I don't know if it is good if you turn it on and off that frequently.

How do I degauss a monitor?

All monitors are different.

Most however, have a Menu button. Push the menu button, and look for the degauss image, usually looks like a magnet. Degauss the monitor once every 1-2 days. If you didn't have the monitors next to each other, you'd only have to degauss 1-2 times a week.

Would it be better if I just kept both on? My main monitor is usually on the whole day and turned off when I sleep.
