monitor flashes

Occassionally my desktop flashes. Sometimes more then once in a split second. Its sort of disconcerting. Anyone know what this is?

mine does that sporadically... it makes a clicking noise and flashes a bit then stops... in fact it hasnt done it in a long time now... i'd suggest making sure your cables arent being crushed and putting strain on the ports... as my computer hasnt done this since i moved to a new desk layout!!!!

I havent seen it for a few days. Maybe it has stopped, hopefully. I notice it when I am just looking at my desktop. So for now I will thankyou for your suggestions. IF it increases I will try your suggestions and hopefully you wont hear back from me.
