I just got a monitor of a friend and it doenst seem to work. It turns on but stays as a black screen. It de-gausses when i pressthe de-gauss button and i also have tried fiddling with the brightness settings. This monitor doenst have a in-built cable but a socket on the back of the monitor. The cable ive used is also a bit suspect.
On one end its like this:
