Default modifying a power cable? (standard p.c. to LCD monitor)

I was wondering if someone could tell me the voltage/ground arrangement of a LCD monitors power cable (3 ear plug Power Cord Cable Gateway FPD1960 LCD monitor 3 prong ) and compare it to the standard non-eared PSU power cable. I just found a monitor that needs a power cable, and I just want to make sure I don't blow anything out if I modify a standard powercable to fit this screen.

anybody have any experience on this proposed project? shouldnt be to hard, just some slicing and dicing of the female tip. yes?
