Ah thanks.. but I don't want a machine for nothing but gaming...I want it to be able to do other things as well. you know?

Of course, I don't think anyone wants a machine solely for the purpose of gaming. Maybe you should revise your decision on what parts you want and seek opinions from here.

But due keep in mind that AMD isn't only high performing in games, it'll run any other applications ok. Just Intel and AMD both have their specific areas where they shine.

after looking at the benchmarks from the rest of the article, intel's 3.4E beats the Athlon 64 3500+ in almost every bench. although, their is not much difference between intel and AMD in gaming either. ANY fps above 80 doesn't make a difference. also, make sure you get a good Video card.
