if a motherboard says it supports different speeds/types of DDR lets say, pc2100, pc2700, ect can I use the different types at the same time? It seems to me like mixing them would not work, but I dont want to test it in case it will damage my motherboard and waste money.

What motherboard (manufacturer/model) are you using?

In most cases, it'll succeed, except both sticks will be running at the speed of the slower stick.

However, that is not the case with some motherboards.

my mobo is soyo SY-KT400 DRAGON Lite. it says it can take DDR400/333 SDRAM. i remember that if u put pc100 and pc133, the memory would run at the lower pc100 speed, that makes sense with the ddr too. if a motherboard cant take different types of DDr type it will not damage the mobo correct?

this is the manufacturer link:

well,...some people/experts claim that its alright to mix speeds,..yeah it will run at the speed of the lower speed,..but mind you that some memory sticks are dont work well when run or paired with a lower speed stick. just to be safe,..run same speed sticks.
