Default missing memory

Hi
Can any one tell me why the BIOS and windows reports my physical memory as 196MB when there is a 256MB stick installed.
Mobo is foxconn K7S741MG-ES, Sis&41 chipset. Sempron 2600 cpu

Yes it does, I take it the video is grabbing approx 60MB for itself.

yeah.

If you are running xp you may want to add anouther stick of 256.

what has happened is you have placed your ram incorrectly what you need to do is find DIMM slot 1 and place your higest ram stick in it, then place in the rest of your ram, in decending order preferably.

what happens is when your bios starts it reads the first bit of ram it finds then it presumes anymore ram is of equal vale, or lower....hence why you need to put the highest ram in slot 1.
