I have 256mb PC2100.

Should I get a stick of 512mb PC2100. To get a total of 768mb.

Or just get a stick of 512mb PC3200 ? and only have the PC3200 in my computer..

What is your guys' opinions ?

might as well get the PC3200 and it will simply underclock to match that of the PC2100 so technically you could still have 768mb of PC2100 but then that PC3200 will be ready for in the future when/if you upgrade

no no no, I am not puttin the 2100 and 3200 together. Would it be faster to just have 512mb 3200 ? or 768mb 2100 ? which would be faster or better ?

The PC3200 of course. Much faster bandwidth...however if your CPU has lower than 400FSB, then you should underclock the PC3200 with tighter timings for optimal results.

no doubt that PC3200 will be faster than PC2100
but 4 me i will get 768MB PC2100 rather than 512MB PC3200 cosz it got larger memory~~~

The price difference between DDR 266 and 400 is minimal, so i recoment DDR 400. What you could do is buy 512 of DDR 400, and run it with your current 256 of DDR 266. This is similar to what i did. I had a 256mb Stick of DDR 333 underclocked to DDR 266. I added another stick of DDR 400, and underclocked it to DDR 266 and it worked fine. And when i upgrade, i could use my 512mb Stick with the new computer.

Thanks for the help. So all of you agree 512 of pc3200 rather than 768 of pc2100 ? I am going for the best performance..
