Lost User Files But Not Acct?

My friend shut down his computer manually(didn't shut windows down from the start menu) and now his user account is still there but all his songs, games and files are not. Anything we can do to figure out what might have happened or where all his info went?

I would run scan disk to look for errors on the drive first.
