here's the basic problem:

I've just installed a new Hard Disk into my spare computer (80GB). I then installed XP onto this HD.

During installation, I set a partition of 50GB and installed XP to this partition.

The problem is, how do I locate and utilise the remaining 30GB?

I was of the assumption that the 30GB would display as an unformatted drive in XP (my computer) after installation had completed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Are you booting from your win xp CD? If so when you create a partition, say 50GB, underneath it should say unpartisioned space, set up a partition in the selcted space. I.e. press enter, it should then ask you to select the size, and then what file format you want to format it in.

That's what I did. Booted from CD.

It ask to allocate size, which I set to 50GB, and then formatted. Once complete, I selected this drive to install to. I forgot to format the unpartitioned space.

Should I boot from CD again and format the unpartitioned space?

It's OK, all resolved. I used the XP disk to create a partition in the unpartitioned space.

I kind of new what I was doing, just looking for re-assurance.

Cheers!
