Default LGA 775 and 478

What is the difference between these two? Which one is better?

The difference in the CPU, and the style of the socket layout.

LGA775, has the pins on the motherboard rather then the CPU(so if you screw up you only have to replace the $200 board rather then potentially $1000 CPU) and the socket has a latch on socket to put pressure on the CPU, rather then having all teh pressure coming from the heatsink clamps which tended to bend the mobo alittle because of the extreme force

478 is cheaper and tried and true, 775 is a good theory, but the cost of the corresponding CPU's is high
