Default Legal Copies of protected cd's

Hello everyone,

i've question "is it illegal if i create images of copy protected cd's, but i don't install the software?"

it is legal to copy software that is owned by you for backup purposes. as long as you do not reverse engineer or give these copies to another person you are within your rights.

with that said nobody cares if you make illegal copies. the only exception is if you mass copy software and sell them. mass piracy or profit making off pirated copies is the only thing that is really illegal
