Default Leaving a laptop on for long periods

I've been downloading large files off Bittorrent and I'm considering leaving my laptop on for several days without shutting down while the file downloads. Is there any harm that can occur if I don't shut it down for long periods?

Plugging it into the wall shouldnt damage anything, running off of the battery could damage it. I know the batt wont last nearly that long but...

just make sure you can turn the monitor off!!! (usually closing the monitor all the way down turns it off, but sometimes they'll go into sleep settings or similar things). Or keep a screensaver going...

Cool "The running man..."

I'm not shure, but i think you can run your computer without your battery. (I think i did something like this a long time ago...)Try disconnecting the battery, and just use the adapter and see what happens...
